On the same day Labor have confirmed they want to “compensate” (hand over public money) to multinational coal corps. they have also announced they are cutting the 10 extra Medicare funded psychologist sessions. Cutting Medicare & giving $$$ to coal corps. That’s modern Labor

Deeply disappointing the Federal Government will not be extending the temporary additional 10 psychology sessions beyond 31 December 2022, despite our extensive advocacy efforts as a community and profession to have the additional sessions made permanent ow.ly/Ksjk50M0zfb

Things that would actually improve mental health care that aren't cutting sessions: (1) increase funding for postgraduate training- we have 10-20x the applicants as we have places and run at a loss, (2) allow 5+1s access to Medicare rebates, (3) *increase* rebates per session.

How does childhood adversity impact #sleep for children with #FASD? Effects are cumulative, with every additional exposure to adversity increasing the odds of #insomnia and every additional exposure to threat increasing #nightmares, shows new study by Griffith University researchers.

Excited to be working on this project with an amazing team! 🎉 Youth with neurodev disorders and trauma are over-represented in the justice system - equipping youth justice staff with tools to support these young people will hopefully lead to better outcomes

📢A/Prof Paul Harnett argues risk assessment is overemphasized in child protection decision making. He proposes adopting a Monitor and Adapt paradigm, drawing from other disciplines. Check out his article: doi.org/10.1093/bjsw/b… #childprotection #decisionmaking Griffith University
