This is great. Yet the story is that still a too small percentage of incarcerated people get the opportunity of education inside … and too many women’s prisons don’t have college programs. The answer still is decarceration. That’s the drumbeat.

I want to say my 17 years in non-profit were as bad as my 6 years in prison, but I don’t want to insult the prison guards who never really cloaked their disdain for Black people with kisses and hugs.

In our justice system, the concept of "innocent until proven guilty" is fundamental. However, the reality is often different, especially for those who can not afford bail. Money bail perpetuates inequality, punishing the poor while favoring the wealthy.

Money bail disproportionately affects low-income individuals who can not afford to pay the ransom for their release. This means people accused of minor offenses may spend weeks or even months in jail awaiting trial simply because they can not afford bail.

Keeping individuals in jail solely because they can not afford bail is not only unjust but also costly to taxpayers. Housing an individual in jail is significantly more expensive than implementing alternative pretrial release programs for Mother's Day! Let's #FreeThemAll
