Hardly a hot take, but The Boeing Company’s decline is predictable and emblematic of what happens when an engineering-at-heart company sets its principles and engineering ethos aside, so that “seasoned executives” and their bean-counting lackeys can squeeze blood from the proverbial stone.

Working for myself and writing some really cool C++ again. Apropos of nothing, Windows usability has really gone downhill since Windows 2000—the last version I regularly used as a personal workstation. But hey, at least now there are widgets. And ads on the start menu too!

I finally got around to decommissioning a whole rack of my servers; they’re out of the lv.net DC and are now sitting, stacked, at an undisclosed location (i.e. my living room). Now the real question: what to do with 100+ TB of high-end SSD storage? 😅

Reading snippets of CSW squirming under oath and I was reminded of this old tweet. Beyond that, CSW can’t explain the rationale behind many of Satoshi’s key decisions—the sort of things you don’t just forget. In fact, he barely has a dilettante’s understanding of the protocol.

Hey UNLV, has nobody pointed out that the giant UNLV letters on Greenspun Hall don’t fit the University’s own brand guidelines (unlv.edu/identity/offic…)? And it’s not just a little off… it’s completely off and so visually jarring. Is there a plan to fix/address this?
