NBLSA is disheartened by Baylor Law School disregard for Black law students by failing to adhere to ABA diversity standards. We released this statement that includes our dissatisfaction with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts at institutions in the Southwest and nationwide.

When I was a law student and national chair of NBLSA, I had the great fortune of spending time with Harvard Law School Professor Ogletree and honoring him with NBLSA’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Thank you for inspiring me and generations of lawyers.

Currently watching Roc Nation’s “Exposing Parchman” documentary. The state of Mississippi has neglected to provide adequate living conditions, medical care, and basic necessities to those incarcerated. Many of those individuals are Black. #CloseParchman

Getting rid of Mississippi’s mandatory sentencing law is one step in the right direction. #CloseParchman

The Black Godfather, Clarence Avant, has passed away. He’s now united with his wife. I’m thankful for giants like Mr. Avant. #RestInPeace

Last week, the Executive Council of the SRC has the rare privilege of hosting members of the National Black Law Students’ Association, @nblsa on a visit to Ghana. 1/4

The NBLSA Executives were welcomed by the Director of Legal Education and the Director of the Ghana School of Law, Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong and the Executive Council of the SRC. 2/4

Amongst other things, we discussed Ghanaian Legal Education and the Ghanaian Legal System as well as a partnership between the Ghana School of Law and the NBLSA. 3/4
