Aryaman Arora I had the privilege of working with Elena as she was the editor, along with Prof. Hock, of the prestigious volume on the languages and linguistics of South Asia! Beside Indo-Aryan & Nuristani her knowledge of Dravidian is impressive too. I reach out to her on questions on Brahui.

As always, whenever this picture is posted, I’d like to point out that Marathi mātā is simply a borrowing from Sanskrit mā́tā (mā́tr̩-), not a true inheritance, and Kashmiri mōǰ (mə̄ǰ) (< Sanskrit mahallikā) has nothing to do with the Indo-European ‘mother’ word.

Mir Yar Brahui was the last Brahui ruler. His papers say Brahui. He became a fake Baloch for freedom from Pakistan, for an independent Balochistan. Now he has become a Hindu for an independent Balochistan.

All the Brahui people of the world are Pakistanis, we do not want to become Balochis. By becoming Balochis, our "Brahui national identity" will be merged into Baloch under a conspiracy. Which we do not accept.

We are Pakistanis and will remain so. We do not want to destroy our country at the behest of our opponents for the sake of a few hundred Baloch terrorists.

Alano-Ossetic personal name ambal- "companion" The name Ambal / Ambalan is said to be derived from the East Iranian root found in Ossetic æmbæl, which means "companion" or "comrade". But it is used in many Dravidian languages in the forms "arunma, andarba" to mean man, husband.
