#worm21 Fabulous talk by former labmate Alison Philbrook on how cilia structure may shape olfaction. Cool calcium imaging data! Very insightful Alison!!!

Awesome work by labmate Astra Bryant, PhD on neural basis of heat seeking in a human parasitic worm. The highlight is how thermal information is encoded differently at the sensory level in a parasitic vs an elegant free-living nematode that may provide clues into host seeking!

Excited to share this work where we show that C. elegans dauers and adults use different mechanisms to establish the same chemosensory behavior. Thanks to my PI Elissa Hallem, all my co-authors and our collaborators wormraiser and Pei-Yin Shih biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Thanks Adam J Calhoun for the share and the thought-provoking analysis of the findings! 👇

Later part of my grad work is out!🎉 A neuropeptide system regulates basal movement and local search behavior by conditionally engaging distinct GPCR combinations across circuits. Thanks to Michael Francis Lab and all my coauthors for taking this to the end.

Thrilled to share the news that in Jan 2023 I’m joining the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at University of Washington as a tenure-track assistant professor. @UW_PBIO #GoHuskies bit.ly/3Jqms0v

Many thanks to Newmark/Issigonis Lab Mostafa Zamanian Makedonka Mitreva for organizing such a wonderful meeting #molhelm23 and giving me the opportunity to share my work!

Our paper with Eric Deeds is now up on PLoS Comp Bio. Some new goodies since the preprint including an implementation of a generalized form of the branch distance! journals.plos.org/ploscompbiol/a…
