Yesterday, Superintendent Lt. Gen. Borgschulte held his first Superintendent’s Call with faculty, staff, and the Brigade for the semester. During the Brigade Call, he was joined by the Brigade Commander, 1/C Kellen Bynes. Together, they welcomed back the Brigade of Midshipmen.

The second class (juniors) midshipmen commemorated their recent 2 for 7 signings with a celebratory luncheon. They were joined by their Link in the Chain, the Class of 1977, in honoring this tradition. Congratulations to the #Classof2027 on this milestone in their career.

I am honored to begin my journey as the 66th Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy. I look forward to leading this great institution, standing shoulder to shoulder with the faculty, staff, coaches and the Brigade of Midshipmen as we prepare for the academic year.

The Extracurricular Activities (ECA) Fair is a key highlight of the first week of classes at the Naval Academy. With over 130 ECAs, ranging from competitive sports to engineering clubs, these activities are essential to a midshipman’s development.

The Brigade of Midshipmen completed the first parade practice of the new academic year, focusing on the discipline and Navy pride necessary for flawless execution. This preparation is for the first formal parade scheduled for Friday, August 29th, at 4:20 PM.

The Brigade of Midshipmen stepped off for the first outdoor Noon Meal Formation of the semester. This tradition remains a visible reminder of the values and standards that shape daily life of midshipmen at the Naval Academy.

The Brigade of Midshipmen marched through downtown Annapolis to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for the first football game of the 2025 season. Along the route, they were greeted by enthusiastic Navy fans cheering on the Brigade and the team.

Navy football opened the 2025 season with a strong showing, defeating Virginia Military Institute on our home field. The crowd was electric as midshipmen and fans cheered on each play. Go Navy!

🇪🇸 Semester abroad in Spain! Naval Station Rota recently hosted 2/Cs Gonzalo Rojas and David Zazueta who are currently exchange students this fall at Spain's naval academy, Escuela Naval Militar ⚓ ARG 🇦🇷 in Marín.

Second class (junior) Parents’ Weekend is a Naval Academy cherished tradition. This past weekend, parents of the #Classof2027 had the opportunity to go to class, dine in King Hall, and walk around the yard with their midshipmen, experiencing first-hand their schedules.

The Brigade was deeply honored to host and hear from the 79th Secretary of the Navy, the Honorable John Phelan. The Naval Academy extends its gratitude to Secretary Phelan for taking the time to engage with the Brigade and for sharing his thoughtful and motivating remarks.

The Brigade and staff gathered today to pay tribute to the 343 brave first responders who gave their lives in the rescue efforts during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In honor of them, they climbed 110 flights of stairs, mirroring the number in the World Trade Center. #NeverForget
