Gerardo’s ghost bike was destroyed by a driver, replaced, stolen by the city, replaced, and now has been destroyed by a driver again. It will not be an accident when another person is killed at this intersection.

Maybe we need a dignified memorial site for Gerardo and all victims of traffic violence and their loved ones.

Parent or not, if you understand that Chicago needs thriving schools to be a thriving city, I urge you to get off the sidelines and get involved.

Lowering the speed limit is good, but residential streets should be slower than arterial streets. We need a system that recognizes that reality.
