This is one of the COOLEST things about the mid/late 90s: seeing Black R&B legends get mainstream success with newer talent. See also: Luther Vandross w/Baby Dubb & Harold Lilly (“Take You Out”) and Whitney w/Darkchild (“It’s Not Right”). It felt intergenerational.

Tamia ate this Apollo performance of SIMH. She’s such an underrated vocalist. (The fact that this was almost Toni Braxton’s song makes me want to hear her spin on it)
