At the opening ceremony of the 2021 1st ordinary session/the swearing-in of the 3rd Deputy Speaker & new members of the ECOWAS Parliament. In attendance were President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo, President of the Senate @DrAhmadLawan, Hon. Sidie M. Tunis, Former ECOWAS Speaker & other dignitaries.

Earlier this morning, President of the Senate, His Excellency, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan was at the ECOWAS Parliament, Abuja for the opening ceremony of the 2021 First Ordinary Session of the parliament.

The Senate President joined other eminent personalities including the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, Dr. Jewel Cianeh Taylor where he delivered a goodwill message.

Speaking during his address, Lawan called on the ECOWAS Parliament to seek out interventions aimed at tackling the lingering problems which are predominant features among the member states of ECOWAS.

According to him, doing so would ensure regional economic growth, besides tackling unemployment and stimulating economic multipliers within the sub-region.

Highlight of the opening ceremony was the presentation of gift to the Senate President for his support to the ECOWAS Parliament especially at this critical time of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The Speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon. Sidie Mohamed Tunis, who presented the gift on behalf of the Secretary General of the ECOWAS Parliament, the parliamentarians as well as the staff and management of the parliament said the Senate President has done a lot for the parliament.

Gbajabiamila said in line with the popular maxim, Nigerian children are truly the leaders of tomorrow because of the enormous potential they possess. As such, the Speaker noted that Nigerian children must imbibe good morals and face their studies squarely.

He urged the children to be worthy ambassadors wherever they find themselves, saying there is nothing as priceless as good morals.

.Femi Gbajabiamila said as current leaders execute the task of nation-building, it is imperative for tomorrow's leaders to aim at surpassing whatever achievements are being recorded now He called on Nigerian children to shun acts capable of derailing them from achieving their set goals.
