At the opening ceremony of the 2021 1st ordinary session/the swearing-in of the 3rd Deputy Speaker & new members of the ECOWAS Parliament. In attendance were President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo, President of the Senate @DrAhmadLawan, Hon. Sidie M. Tunis, Former ECOWAS Speaker & other dignitaries.

The Senate President joined other eminent personalities including the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, Dr. Jewel Cianeh Taylor where he delivered a goodwill message.

Speaking during his address, Lawan called on the ECOWAS Parliament to seek out interventions aimed at tackling the lingering problems which are predominant features among the member states of ECOWAS.
