The paper, reported by Drs Nishida and Shintani, identified antibiotics based on X-ray and cryo-EM structures of mitochondrial heme-copper oxidases. The structures were determined in SPring-8. KEK cryo-EM was used for the initial screening. Congrats!!! nature.com/articles/s4146…

The 20th paper from the #cryoEM facility in #KEK. Collaboration with Drs Kosugi and Shibata. Went to the Antarctic, brought back an alga, and revealed its unusual LHC structure with C11 symmetry. A tiny amount, but enough to obtain its cryo-EM structure. nature.com/articles/s4146…
