Did you know "Midlander" wasn't the first No.5 on the Talyllyn Railway? The Original No.5 was built using wagon parts & the engine from Tom Rolt's Narrow Boat. It was nicknamed "The Lawnmower" due to the sound it made! NGRM.ORG.UK 📸 The John Adams Collection

Carrying on with the lesser know Talyllyn locomotives - here is the Original No.7! Nicknamed "Charlie's Ant" after the Railway's Chief Engineer at the time, Charles Uren. It was built in 1954 & unfortunately scrapped in 1958 NGRM.ORG.UK 📸 The John Adams Collection

A sight that is no longer to be seen at Pendre, the old barn that was once home to No.1 "Talyllyn" for the majority of the 1950s As No.1 was unsafe for work, she was moved out of the loco sheds to make room for No.3 & 4 She returned to steam in 1958! NGRM.ORG.UK

On the 6th May 1991 the Talyllyn Railway had a very different kind of inauguration - that of the brand new No.7, "Tom Rolt"! NGRM.ORG.UK 📸 The John Adams Collection

The The Narrow Gauge Railway Museum is found across the Atlantic in beautiful #Wales Talyllyn Railway. Welsh narrow gauges inspired the construction of #twofooters here in #Maine.
