Last year I gave myself a scary birthday gift: publicly sharing my experience with mental illness. I worried this might bring difficult career consequences, given my field (clinical psych). Largely, I don't think it has. For birthday 32 (tomorrow!) I’d like to talk about why.

My dad asked me how I would have tried to save my brothers’ life with what I know now. I told him I’d make sure narcan and fentanyl test strips were readily available and focus on preventing an overdose rather than just abstinence. #harmreduction saves lives. #endoverdose
