In case you were wondering how they developed the Tecnai it’s just all of the non micro computer bits from a CM in a box connected to a PC. Also there’s a few SMD boards here and there for the first time. 1st picture is Tecnai, 2nd is CM.

The JEOL neoscope JSM-5000 table top SEM is just too cute. They did a great job of building it like a bigger SEM, just smaller, which is not something you can say about all table top SEMs...

Just searched the whole notion workspace, "shit" appeared 54 times, and "piece of shit" appeared 25 times, 14 of which were when using the ebeam tool.

Great deal on an electron microscope here. Only one pic but it looks like it’s got everything you need and a spare column to go with it. There is an encoded motorized stage upgrade on it as well for at a minimum X, Y, and Z. Not to mention the ion pumps for LAB6 operation.

Look ma no chamber! Or column for that matter. Idk what happened but someone managed to get so much dust in this microscope that when Adam P. Summers went to blow it out a large cloud came out of the chamber 😳. Was so bad you couldn’t resolve an image at the lowest magnification.

I wanted to see where the hotspots in my ultrasonic cleaner are and which water levels to avoid to get the most even pressure distribution 😄

For a quick check, hold a flat piece of aluminum foil in an ultrasonic cleaner for a minute and you can see where and how much cavitation is happening
