Except authoritarian regimes that suppress freedom of speech aren’t “African culture” they are literally layovers from colonial rule 🥴🥴 and Africans have consistently opposed those regimes only to be met with state violence

Like…we literally have a history of democratically elected leaders who vocally oppose the status quo being toppled and replaced with dictators that serve Western interests and violently suppress their own (see Patrice Lumumba)
