#Workingbehindthescenes. With the reality of Covid-19 and putting health first, we are confronted with the challenge of keeping the momentum of our programmes going. With content not able to be experienced at our Centres, we are (cautiously) working towards other delivery modes.

The cold current has descended freezing temperatures upon parts of the country. Being at NaDEET, temperatures didn't drop below zero but the wind chill factor makes it feel extreme with strong winds of over 55km/h at times. With work to be done, the team dressed for the occasion.

Keeping busy and adapting. Through the Teach for ESD programme, we aim to make great strides in improving education. But to proceed we are literally packaging our programme differently (and now posting materials) to keep teachers active during this difficult time. #staysafesafe

We were excited to host our second Teach for ESD workshop at NaDEET Centre this past week. 17 teachers eager to learn about Education for Sustainable Development #ESDfor2030 investigated wicked environmental problems and pledged to take climate action.

We are satisfied with the building results at NaDEET Base and we are thankful for all the help we got financially from the German Embassy NAM. Thanks to Duncan Lester and the hard work from the NaDEET Team. We still have some work to finish but we are excited to use our new hub.

The #NaDEET Urban Sustainability Centre in Swakopmund has been just as busy as NaDEET Centre on NamibRand. Learning in this urban setting and surroundings together with our participants and understanding how we can make sustainable choices has been an exciting adventure so far.

Great strides in EE/ESD for Namibia 👍

NaDEET had a great workshop with My NUST Nature conservation students and ESD expert Dr. Jim Taylor. Exploring carbon free transport and sustainable living practices is a key part of Nature conservation that we focused on whilst learning from the environment.

Our highlights from the past week: At the NaDEET Centre we hosted the 12th and final Teach for ESD group. The Urban Centre had groups from various schools participating in our programmes. We ended the week with an outreach visit to the Willem Borchard Primary School in Okombahe.

Our work with Willem Borchard Primary School and the Okombahe community members was made possible by Rössing Uranium PTY LTDNamibia. By supplying solar cooking equipment and funding the education behind it, use of clean, renewable energy is greatly enhanced.
