nLine, with the support of MCC and MiDA NDPC Ghana has produced the most granular data yet on the power received by electricity customers in Ghana.

The data was collected as part of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Financial and Operational Turnaround Project under MCC’s Ghana Power Compact.

The report shows power quality and reliability in 14 ECG Districts across #Accra, Ghana since 2018.

Since 2018, nLine has deployed 1,200+ sensors across the #Accra metropolis, generating more than nine million data points over five years.

The dataset shows up-to-date details of power outages (blackouts), low voltage (brownouts), and high voltage (whiteouts) at any time on nLine’s Gridwatch dashboard.

This shows the number of power cuts the average customer received each month. The lowest was July 2022 and the highest was May 2024

In other words, the number of hours of light-off for each month for each customer, on average.

You can think of this as the map of Accra by power outage in 2023. Those in the dark blue areas had the highest number of hours of outage.

Zooming in on 2024...the number of outages peaked during the week of April 15, with nearly 5 blackouts that week for each customer in Accra.

The week of April 15 was also when the light-offs lasted longest for the average customer. The situation has improved greatly since then.
