On behalf of Lowertowners, destroying the stately, treed boulevard that King Edward used to be to create a heavy truck route which now divides our community is an urban "planning" decision that we would love to see corrected (like yesterday).

This is another heartbreaker. Isaac and Miriam, stalwarts of the ByWard Market for almost 30 years and beloved friends to so many of us. Our hearts are truly broken. 💔💔💔💔💔💔

Thank you Rawlson King! We have to find non-toxic solutions to replace the ridiculous amounts of salt that are getting dumped on our sidewalks and streets!

Pushing Byward to be a tourist destination is wrong headed. Tourists don't want an artificial space designed for them. They want to experience authentic Ottawa as residents would. Stop with the Disney approach and bring back the functioning market that many of us remember.

The Union du Canada building was the headquarters of an insurance company that supported Francophone working-class communities. It was demolished in 2014, replaced by the Andaz hotel. Join us on Monday the 24th at noon for a ceremony to install a memorial plaque at 325 Dalhousie.

An interesting thread from @ABetterOttawa. Lowertowners - what are your thoughts about pedestrianization, accessibility for those who can't pedestrianize, and the needs of business owners?

More changes coming to the ByWard resto scene. And FYI - some of us remember when Fairouz was a cozy café at Bank and Third in the 1980s. Super pita sandwiches and to die for salade cabbage!
