#OTD March 26, 1831 #RichardAllen passed away. He was born into slavery in 1760 and purchased his freedom in 1786. In 1794, Rev. Richard Allen founded the first African Methodist Episcopal Church (#AME) in America. He would become the first bishop of this church.

#OTD March 31, 1980 #JesseOwens died. A tremendously talented track athlete, he won 4 Olympic #goldmedals at the 1936 #OlympicGames. Jesse clocked in 10.3 seconds for the 100-meter race. He managed to break or equal 9 #Olympicrecords and also set 3 #worldrecords.
