FAO paper highlighting the importance of the global livestock sector. We need to share this far and wide - it’s a short paper; excerpt below. Go armed to your next BBQ... fao.org/ag/againfo/hom…

Hard not to like the enthusiasm here. I think there are challenges with the scope of green new deal initiatives but then NZ is far closer to the ideals than the US

The soil on the left is from sheep and cattle being rotationally grazed. They ate the grass, deposited their urine/dung and were then moved away. This allows the pulling of carbon into the soil. The soil on the right is from a commercial farm that grows grain and uses no animals

A nice and simple presentation on how the economy works. The focus on the importance of access to credit is food for thought for dairy farmers in particular - dairy won’t be growing in NZ anytime soon!

The problem with their analysis is that they ignore the short half life of methane. If I milk 100 cows today, and still milk 100 cows in 10 years time then I have contributed 0 to global warming from methane. Agri needs national GHG accounting! lnkd.in/gS5bm8v

Thanks to the brave men and women out there still running our farms, gardens, orchards - and to the pickers, drivers, processors and post harvest operators. linkedin.com/pulse/heres-he… via LinkedIn

I am biased here but this person is immensely talented with a great ability to get to the nub of the problem or opportunity and to guide strategic and tactical responses. She brings true diversity of thought and approach.
