Today is the anniversary of the publication of Origin of Species! Our colleagues at Cambridge University Library have been very busy the last few years on a huge conservation and digitisation effort, and now most of the Darwin Archive is available on CambridgeDigitalLib -with DCP transcriptions!

Darwin's fame was such that he would receive reports on studies in natural history from all over the world. C. Darwin, Feb 6, 1873, “I am very much obliged to you for your kindness… This subject is most important & interesting; but I grieve to say that I cannot read Italian”.

Cambridge University Library The book was personally inscribed and sent to Darwin as a gift in 1873 by Marx 📚🎁 With most pages uncut, it appears Darwin gave up any attempt to read it and took almost three months to reply with a note of thanks to Marx. 📸 ©️ Cambridge University Library/ Cambridge University Library

Having written many nonfiction words about Charles Darwin and his work, I now want to read a bunch of his letters for a story idea. How lucky I am that MyDearDarwin has made his life in letters available to all of us online! #DarwinCorrespondenceProject darwinproject.ac.uk
