#Carbs and #bloodsugar seem to be the current health trend. Is it really the key to banishing obesity + diabetes or is it that continuous glucose monitoring devices are new and available? What if we'd invented continuous blood lipid monitoring tech instead? #cgm #healthtech

Health startups DO want to publish research, but research + publishing know-how is fragmented, opaque and locked away. And if you don't get 'good' results it can kill your business. Make doing research less risky + easier to figure out and more startups would prioritise it.

Excellent article and business model innovation! Finally a way to get reimbursed *and* have the patient be your real customer. A good step towards better aligned incentives.

Really like Bret A. Larsen’s framing of the crisis of physician time as the ‘efficiency gap’. The elephant in the digital health room - which tech is actually solving that problem vs making it worse?

Love to hear Marcus Osborne of Walmart Health push back on the trope that people don’t want to engage in their care. If people don’t engage w. your service, that’s a problem with your service not your consumer. #HLTH2021

All the talk about how tech plumbing can accelerate innovation in health feels like the more productive evolution of the ‘tech will fix everything’ one #HLTH

Interested to hear that GoodRx is putting together more readable and trustworthy health info online. Definitely the information wild west out there esp for diabetes #HLTH2021

Ro wants to make taking care of health as easy as ‘pressing the easy button’. Curious how that will look for conditions that need care beyond medication. #HLTH2021

Tons of interesting stuff in this chronic condition management but none of the panelists are working in chronic condition management imo. If your business model is address an issue and get someone off your product in 6-8 weeks, that’s not a chronic condition. #HLTH2021

The biggest problem I heard across the board at #HTLH2021 is a talent gap. - Health systems are struggling to retain/hire nurses & other health care workers - Startups are duking it out & their recruiters are overwhelmed - Incumbents are seeing their best/brightest flee

Incredibly dystopian Amazon talk about making warehouse workers take 30 second “micro breaks” meant for mindfulness and stretching, as if that’s a meaningful improvement in workplace rights and dignity.

Look just how simple it is to make changes that don’t blame, shame or stigmatise. It doesn’t take longer to use words that encourage rather than demotivate. #LanguageMatters

I know why the response to this is “we’re building that”, but with the number of #healthtech products that fail, never launch, or launch in many years or with stupid high price points that won’t scale …. Well that isn’t meaningful for regular people.

🗞️Hot off the press Nature Communications📢: Americans think a minority in the US are worried about climate change & support climate policy—it's really a super majority. This “False Social Reality” is near-universal in the US & fully inverts the true norm: nature.com/articles/s4146… 1/3
