Yesterday #volunteers put this "aerated water" bottling machine on display. Rescued from Langthorne Hospital in Leytonstone in the 60s or 70s, it could fill 180 bottles an hour - but a 1934 catalogue informs us that "the output largely depends on the agility of the operator"!

The Astronomical Clock at Hampton Court was installed in 1540 and displays not only the time, but the moon phases and the movement of the sun. Henry VIII could even use it to see how high the tide was in order to ensure a safe journey over the Thames! #BritishScienceWeek

Leighton took as much care of his own appearance as he did for his beautiful house and was noted by contemporaries to be an incredibly dapper and handsome fellow. ‘Out-of-doors he was always dressed in the fashion, even in hot weather.’

Did you know that Mail Rail was used as a movie location? In the early 1990s, one of the platforms was transformed into the Vatican’s own private Underground Postal Railway. Anyone remember the film with Bruce Willis? 🎥
