Wow. Right now in Scotland: Crowds are marching through the streets of Glasgow chanting: “Say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here!” As part of a protest against Boris Johnson.

Very proud of my step daughter Hollie Burton Hollie Burton. Her first academic paper was published today. Based on her masters dissertation. Great paper! tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

In these days of anxiety, I wanted to find a way to continue to share some of the music that gives me comfort. The first of my #SongsOfComfort: Dvořák – "Going Home” Stay safe.

I want to send a personal and sincere thank you to every health worker around the world – especially nurses and midwives, who we are celebrating this year through the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife.

UK policy is to only test those already in hospital (+politicians and footballers, it seems). Makes a nonsense of ‘infection’ rates it and leaves NHS staff in an invidious position. #covid19 Petition - Test frontline NHS staff for COVID-19 as a priority. change.org/p/the-nhs-test…

I wanted to take a quick moment to say thank you to everyone doing the right thing just now - following health advice, looking out for others and showing kindness. These are difficult days and we face a big challenge - but, together, we will get through it ❤️

We really need to stop referring to the reported positive tests as the numbers - these are out of date due to the time to process, and the long incubation period. The government should be working 7-10 days ahead and using sampling theory, not cult active counts

I would *never* use language like this, obvs 😉 - but we could all do with a smile just now. And if humour helps get the message across...

It's that time of the year to dream of what could have been: what would 10 years of AHRC/BBC collaboration achieved through mass participation in a scheme designed for researchers AND non-researchers, at all stages in their careers (not just the already decorated/tenured)?

Farewell, sir. You did, indeed, fight the good fight and get into a lot of good trouble. You served God and humanity well. Thank you. Take your rest. #JohnLewis
