We’ve lost a giant today. Michael McKee’s passing is an immeasurable loss for New York’s tenant movement. From the 1970s to today, his brilliance, persistence, and vision shaped every major tenant rights victory in our state.

Michael McKee impacted the lives of countless New Yorkers over decades of visionary organizing for rent stabilization and affordable housing. He will be deeply missed. But his legacy lives on in the movement he helped lead and victories for tenants to come.
