#Jack Brabham (1926-2014) in a #Cooper Climax claimed the first of his 14 #F1 #GrandPrix wins at the #MonacoGP. The quiet and underrated Australian won 3 #F1 #WorldChampionships one of which he accomplished in 1966 driving a car of his own construction.

OTD in 1975 #NikiLauda (1949-2019) won the #MonacoGP driving a #Ferrari312T. Starting from pole, Lauda dominated the race which started in wet conditions . Lauda went on to win another 4 of that years’ #GP’s culminating in his first #F1 #WorldChampionship.

British racer #Roy Salvadori was born OTD in 1922. A great all-rounder in the 1950’s and 60’s. His best #F1 #World Championship result was 2nd in the 1958 #GermanGP driving a #Cooper and he finished 4th in that years #Championship. The following year he won the #LeMans 24 Hours.

#Motorcycle road-racer turned F1 driver Bob Anderson was born OTD in 1931. He was successful in #GP motorcycle racing from 1958 before turning to four wheels in 1963. He was one of the last ‘privateer’ #F1 drivers with his best result being a 3rd in the 1964 #AustrianGP .

OTD in 1961 Stirling Moss drove what he considered was his greatest race. In a year-old , privately entered Lotus 18 and a 40bhp power deficit he won the Monaco GP from Richie Ginther’s more powerful Ferrari by 3.7 secs.

OTD in 1970 the 6th round on the #WorldSportscarChampionship was a #1000kms race held on the old 8.7 mile #Spa circuit. The race started in wet conditions is is remembered for #JoSiffert and #PedroRodriguez leadimg the pack, door-banging through Eau Rouge in their #Porsche917’s.
