The most telling part of this indictment is less the "Russia" aspect, than the total lack of scruples by the "heterodox media" company taking absurd amounts of money from an apparently fictitious entity. $400K per month, plus a $100K signing bonus, for four dopey videos a week???

Several of the people who apparently received insane amounts of money to create viral slop videos have stated that they were "victims" in the purported "scheme," which would seem to legitimate the premise of the allegations, but you'd have to ask them for further details

If this was really some sort of "Russian influence" operation they did a terrible job generating views. It seems like the "investment" was more about duping gullible "content creators" than about actually creating the content

For all the millions of times I've been accused of being paid by Russia, I never actually received the big money that apparently was in fact available

If it's true that Russia is spending millions of dollars to bankroll US online right-wing media in a ridiculous scheme that undoubtedly would have been eventually exposed, what does it say that Russia is doing things to humiliate and discredit US online right-wing media?

The commentators recruited to the fraudulent company already had large platforms and substantial income. So no -- the alternative for them wasn't "serving burgers at McDonalds." They were apparently lured with astronomical amounts of extra money for shockingly little work

To the extent Russia has any discernible motive for any of this, it’s: 1) Amplifying and exaggerating their perceived influence 2) Stoking general confusion and paranoia, as opposed to promoting some narrow US partisan interest, despite how things inevitably get spun

Here are Putin's full comments today on the US election. He says Biden was previously Russia's "favorite," and Kamala has inherited that preference. He makes a seemingly sarcastic remark about Kamala's "contagious laugh." He notes Trump imposed unprecedented sanctions on Russia

As a matter of principle I refrain from trying to psychoanalyze Putin, which might be the most tedious and annoying genre of arm-chair commentary out there. He's repeatedly said that he favors Biden/Kamala over Trump. I doubt if he openly announced his preference for Trump,

Trump campaigned on improving relations with Russia in 2016, failed dramatically, imposed massive sanctions on Russia, armed Ukraine, expanded NATO, tore up treaties, and relations with Russia sunk to a historic low. No elaborate "reverse psychology" analysis is necessary here

Why wouldn't Putin want Trump to be elected? Some theories: - Trump campaigned on improving relations with Russia in 2016, but the opposite occurred - Trump armed Ukraine and expanded NATO, and continues to brag about both to this day - Trump imposed unprecedented sanctions on

Interventionists always vaguely bemoan the supposed "weakness" of the US -- the most powerful world hegemon in history -- without providing specifics other than the alleged intangible character flaws of their opponents. Dems did it under Trump, GOP did it under Obama and now

Trump was once again introduced today by Miriam Adelson, who declared he will "save the Jewish people." A video highlighted Trump's record as "the most pro-Israel president in US history," who will "crack down on anti-Semitism." Trump then praised Miriam as an "incredible person"

Here's Trump on April 13, 2022 accusing Russia of committing "genocide" in Ukraine. Could perhaps be another reason why Putin says he does not favor Trump in the 2024 election

Critics of US/Israel policy have so little influence or leverage that the Democratic ticket has gotten away with announcing zero substantive policy shift from the current administration, and instead just repeats a bunch of platitudes that do nothing but reaffirm the status quo
