Happy to share our new work “The frequency of CD38+ alveolar macrophages correlates with early control of M.Tuberculosis in the murine lung” is finally out in Nature Communications . CD38+ monocyte-derived & tissue-resident alveolar macrophages are significant controllers of Mycobacterium tuberculosis growth in lung, with intranasal BCG immunization increasing the numbers of CD38+ macrophages Davide Pisu nature.com/articles/s4146…

Cool story from Nelson V. Simwela, PhD He developed a CRISPR-based genetic screen in Hoxb8 macrophages and found inhibition of the GID/CTLH E3 complex inhibits growth of Mtb and Salmonella. The GID complex is currently a drug target in cancer, so there is hope for potential new anti-TB drugs.

Molecular dynamics simulations in mixed reality! With Luciano Abriata and Lucien Krapp we’re scaling our multi-user WebXR platform to enable immersive molecular simulations, fully based on web technologies. Stay tuned, lots of cool stuff coming soon! Three.js #WebXR #Quest3

Excited to share that our review on macrophage function and heterogeneity in tuberculosis infection is now published in Nature Reviews Immunology! We highlight key findings from recent studies including work from @AlissaRothchild Michael Angelo @KhaderShabaana Tim Willinger lab
