The BRT plan would build a busway along the branch line right-of-way paralleling Highway 1 to connect Marina, Sand City, and Seaside (where many who work in Monterey live) and the Monterey Peninsula itself, which is unaffordable. (Ask me why I no longer live there.) 3/

Dedicated ROW helps ensure the BRT line provides frequent, speedy, and reliable service -- essential qualities to get people out of their cars and onto public transit, which as we know helps reduce climate pollution. All of this is good, right? Not for the Coastal Commission. 4/

SURF! BRT and Busway mean less traffic, faster commutes between Salinas and Monterey (as well as all the cities in between), fewer cars on the road, cleaner air, and better access to the coast. But this will happen ONLY IF The California Coast votes YES on SURF! next month!
