Tennessee is reporting an average of 2,325 COVID-19 infections per day, up 938% since July 1. Deaths per day up from 3 to 10. Average positivity rate up from 2.7% to 14.8%. The last time we had an average rate this high was January, near the worst of it. This is very bad.

Over the past week, 11% of new COVID-19 infections in Tennessee are among children age 10 and under. This statistic has never been this high before. And I don't think we are seeing the full effect of kids going back to school yet. They can't get vaccinated. But you can.

Several COVID-19 vaccination and testing options are available this week. If you are attending an event to be tested, please check to ensure it is a site that will be offering testing. Testing and vaccination are both free, and no appointment is required for either one.

After eight infants died, 3.3 million pillows were recalled. Guns are the leading cause of death among American children, but for 40 years, a special exemption from regulation by the CPSC has prevented the government from overseeing firearms like every other consumer product. 🤷‍♀️

There needs to be a serious conversation with TVA-Tennessee Valley Authority, Gov. Bill Lee, our electrical systems, & other state/local officials about how to avoid rolling blackouts and this level of disruption. Whether we need to improve infrastructure, management, or policies, we need to do it.

Guns surpassed cars & became the #1 killer of kids in 2020 & have been since. Why? The auto industry was forced to make cars safer, while gun makers innovate to make guns deadlier & have unique, broad immunity from legal accountability. Help us change that: Text ACT to 644-33.

It would be difficult to find literally anything else that Americans agree on this much. It’s time for Congress to get in line with the American people.

I am a gun owner and a hunter. I have always & will continue to strongly support #2ndAmendment rights. But we have reached a #publichealth crisis where #guns are now #1 killer of kids nationwide. Here are 11 policies that warrant consideration in response: forbes.com/sites/billfris…
