1000 Xhosa men were killed on this day. Nxele went into hiding and 4 months later surrendered. He was taken to Robben Island. He drowned trying to escape the prison on 25 December 1819.

It's Freedom Day but I am thinking about the Group Areas Act 41 which was passed on this day in 1950. Everything about these two historic moments sharing a day that is both devastating and infuriating.

Zikhona Valela They liked to create these historic frictions. They are everywhere in the “New South African” lexicon of falsehoods and illusions. Even our national anthem speaks to this.

To decide on 27 April was significant for the main opposition parties. But for the winning party to not do the work of affirming a break with the oppressive past is just unbelievable.

REMEMBERED: 1963, six PAC cadres were sentenced to life imprisonment on Robben Island - Jafta Masemola, Isaac Mthimunye, Philemon Tefo, Dimake Malepe, John Nkosi and Samuel Chibane-Mashilo. These were the first politicians to be sentenced to life imprisonment in the 20th century.

Funny how these ANC - African National Congress cadres talk about land these days as if it was central to any program they ever had since they took over from the Nats. If they don't compare themselves to Sobukwe, they feel the same vigor put on Zuma's arrest should have been put on returning land🙄

This white old man in Alberton says the ANC will regret the damage they've caused this country " things were better in the past"... For the first time I didn't feel the need to respond. When will these old f#%k3r$ understand it was only better for them.
