MSD’s Special Olympics Interscholastic Unified Track & Field team are state champions! Congratulations to our student-athletes and partners on an incredible spring season!

Congratulations to Leticia Detrow, who has been named the 2025 USADTF/NDIAA Female Track Athlete of the Year! This is her second consecutive track honor, building on a standout year that also included Runner of the Year recognition for her cross country season last fall.

Coach Randy Shank has been named the 2025 USADTF/NDIAA Boys Track & Field Coach of the Year—his third consecutive honor with the boys team and fifth straight overall, including Coach of the Year recognition with the varsity girls' team. Congratulations, Coach Shank!

Congratulations to our Varsity Boys Track & Field team for earning the USADTF/NDIAA Division I Team of the Year title for the third consecutive year! The Orioles had an outstanding season, earning top-three finishes in individual and relay team events across the country.

Please join us in welcoming Elena Ciccarelli as the new Athletic Director at MSD. We look forward to her leadership in this new role.

Leticia Detrow was named All-American in the 800m, 1600m, & 3200m—& set a new Nat’l Deaf Prep Record. Emmanuela Debrah earned Honorable Mention in the 100m hurdles & high jump. They also teamed up with Jacqundia Fuller & McKenzie Johnson to earn honors in the 800m relay.

We’re looking forward to hosting the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind for a non-conference varsity matchup at MSD! Join us on Saturday, September 6 at 7 PM at Creager Field as our varsity football team and cheerleaders take on the FSDB Dragons under the lights.

Five events, six nat’l Honorable Mentions! Josiah Lockhart was recognized in the 3200m, Mark Gwynn III in both the Long Jump & High Jump, & Josue Sanchez in the Shot Put. Our 3200m Relay team—Julio Cuadrado III, Lockhart, Louis Ortiz, & Blane Shank—also earned Honorable Mention.
