We are starting a new phase! 😃We are already at the @UPV/EHU to work with Prof Maite Maguregui Maite Maguregui and her team on our accelerated ageing experiments. This week, we focused on characterizing our samples via micro-XRF.

Time to prepare sediment samples from Blombos Cave for XRD analysis! The information derived from this procedure is crucial for calibrating our experiments on the taphonomic impact of wind erosion and marine aerosol degradation on Middle Stone Age ochre paintings.

Another excellent week of work and learning at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU 😃 Over the past few days, we have been using Raman spectroscopy to complement the characterization of our paint samples.

It's time to characterize the samples through hyperspectral imaging! This technique will help us obtain complementary information about the decay of pigments and binders in the eight pictorial recipes we will expose to wind erosion and marine aerosol degradation #ochre #rockart
