Someone care to explain to me why Celine Song has so much impact on here that if she loves a movie, people start hating on it?

If a movie being gorgeous is enough for you to consider it a "good film" or even a "masterpiece", then we just watch movies differently. And that's okay! But, personally, cinema is more than mere visuals. Story & characters will always be more important than any technicism.

I get why 28 DAYS LATER is considered a horror classic. It revitalized the zombie genre while still delivering a thought-provoking narrative exploring human nature & societal collapse. Its use of digital video allows for an immersive atmosphere & Cillian Murphy's breakthrough

Rotten Tomatoes just launched its app! Finally! You can follow your favorite critics & outlets, which is something I didn't expect them to do. Honestly, it's quite cool. Better late than never.

Is it that hard to be respectful & simply understand the other side of a discussion? Damn, I'm buddies with Maxance Vincent & we strongly disagree in fundamental film stuff. We still have a laugh, focus on the things we do have in common & enjoy talking about movies.

Finally done with SPIDER-MAN 2. Honestly, these three #SpiderMan games are some of the most enjoyable I've ever played in my life. Gameplay style right up my alley, incredibly immersive world-building & exceptional storytelling - what I wouldn't give to see this adapted into the

I enjoyed watching 28 Days & Weeks Later for the first time. Both pretty compelling movies with solid characters, but I hope the new film lets go of the overwhelming shaky cam. It's just way too distracting, messy & mostly incomprehensible. Improve this & I might love it!

Giving a film 5/5 exclusively because it was culturally impactful or had a profound impact on cinema's history is nonsensical, in my opinion. Am I watching & reviewing the movie or its external accomplishments? They're not the same. A classic is a classic independent of quality.

Manuel São Bento (@msbreviews) 's Twitter Profile Photo

A classic isn't a classic because it's a 5/5 or most people loved it. The term has nothing to do with quality or ratings, but with impact beyond the big screen. We don't need to love classics, but to understand why they managed to accomplish such status.

I'm quite baffled at the almost non-response to Rotten Tomatoes removing the average rating from the Tomatometer. It's the one aspect that made it complete. Now, it's just impossible for everyday users to know if a movie truly is *great* or simply okay.

Manuel São Bento (@msbreviews) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Actually, I changed my mind. I think Days is slightly better than Weeks for me. Thought about it for a while & I prefer the more humanist take of the original. My issues are the same in both, so it really just comes down to better characters & performances.

It's #MIDSOMMAR weekend here in Sweden! I wish my film buddies would visit me during this holiday to see how much of Ari Aster's film actually gets right 😅 Also, cinemas are closed today, so #28YearsLater viewing has to be tomorrow.

Look, Rotten Tomatoes makes baffling decisions at times - removing the average rating is the latest - but the new app looks pretty damn cool. Being able to follow critics AND outlets gives you a really great feed. Having in mind it was a soft launch & many more features are yet
