A3: Music is a unique opportunity to connect with others. Whenever I’ve had difficulties with Ss taking out headphones to be engaged during class, I always ask what artist it is2. Even if I don’t like that style, I try to listen to the music to get to know my Ss better! #EBedchat

Lauren LeClair A3: I think the answer is you simply don't allow yourself to overgeneralize a "low opinion" of current music, especially if you can see it's important to a lot of fans. There has to be something in the music that's reaching them. I try to stay open-minded. #ebedchat

A4: I have been trying a Do Now timer this year as a routine in my class as my Ss respond to a new writing prompt each day. It always ends with short music that plays to signify the time is up. I like to change the music to reflect the energy of the lesson that day. #EBedchat

A5: I have noticed many of my Ss are often more productive if they are allowed to listen to music while they write. #EBedchat

A6: In English this year, we have launched an E-portfolio where students periodically update their writing assignments. I could use this regular check-in to also hold Ss accountable for their writing goals! #EBedchat

A7: I would like to work toward reading for fun more. I always stress the importance to my Ss, but then hypocritically find myself putting it to the side to focus on other priorities. I need to lead by example! #EBEdChat

Tonight is the night! I hope to “see” you there! I’m going to try something different so there will be a prize for the most active participant! #SEL #traumainvested #EBEdchat #EBEmpower

A1: I’m Diane, and I teach 8th grade English @ Churchill! My AP English teacher let us analyze themes from outside sources of our choice in 12th grade like music videos or TV shows! #EBEdChat

A2: I think whenever there is the opportunity for collaboration, there also runs the risk of students distracting one another (instead of using each other for success). I think differentiation becomes so important here and choosing the groups strategically #EBEdChat

We're only a few days away from the next #EBedchat Remember: #EBedchat is open to everyone! We love guest participants. I know that we're all well rested after Spring Break and excited to dive into reflection, learning, and growth together!
