Glorious afternoon with year 3 athletes yesterday. We worked through running, focusing on speed, agility and stamina and throwing using 2 types of throw over short and long distances. All in preparation for what will hopefully be a sports day in Summer 2 ☀️

Looking to keep the costs of a residential down for my year 6s next year. Can any aspect of it be paid through Sport Premium if it is justifiable? Advice welcome.

Mr Riley is over to AJS this, boys football training at lunch then an afternoon delivering Gymnastics to year 4 and on to packed our football after school club! Miss Scothern is at St James’ CofE Junior School delivering Dance this morning, lunchtime, 3 PE lessons and after school clubs!

After getting some illegible answers in a maths test last term, I showed this to my class and asked them to tell me what number I'd written. I got a wide variety of answers!

#sats2023 That reading paper was brutal. It seems as though it was specifically designed to allow children to stumble. Mistakes are likely during a stressful week due to the unnecessary pressures that come with SATS but it’s totally unfair to go looking for those errors

So far Punctuation and Grammar paper = Fair. Spelling test = Hardest I’ve ever seen Reading paper = Hardest since the 2015/2016 uproar Prediction for maths = Trigonometry #sats2023

Just when children think they’re off the hook with sats, writing moderation comes knocking, and with that, more stress. #sats2023. The resilience of children is definitely underrated.

Mr Riley and Miss Scothern had super mornings delivering both Boxing & Multi-Sports at both Sawley and Bennerley sites Esteem MAT. Miss Scothern has worked with year 6 this at St James’ CofE Junior School for their treat day post SATS. Whilst Mr Riley worked with NCC Teacher AJS year 3

And just like this it’s the final week of the half term! We’ve had a super half term across our partner schools and some outstanding work at St George's Derby & St James’ CofE Junior School and AJS NCC Teacher in our PE units! 🤸‍♀️ 🏏 🏋️‍♀️

Parents, if your child goes on a residential between now and the end of the year, go and give the teachers a quick thank you when you pick your child up. You’d be amazed how little it happens, and it means a huge amount.
