Ms. Kirby’s 2nd graders invited me in to see their Reader’s Theater play, “The Gift-Guessing Kid.” It was clear that they practiced and worked hard on their expression, fluency and comprehension of this text! They even built their own backdrop and props! 👍🏻

We are taking advantage of all of the fun, free events that Montgomery County Public Libraries have available this summer! They have options for all ages. Of course, the daughter of the Reading Specialist went right for the letter magnets at their play time event yesterday! 📚

I’m so excited to get back to work with the Barnsley Literacy Den (PLC) this school year! We have a lot of work to do with the rollout of our new CKLA ELA curriculum, but our Literacy Leaders are the right people for the job. Chris Robertson #beardens

I saw some AMAZING CKLA reading lessons in action this morning! Students were engaged in read alouds, creating story maps, sharing predictions, and even working in small groups! I am so impressed with our Barnsley teachers and how quickly they’ve gotten into this new curriculum!
