What a great first week at Oak Creek! Through play, we are learning to be creative and collaborate. Here’s a snippet of today’s exploration time: a playdoh family (“my dad, my mom, and me”), a Duplo garage built by several students to hold the cars, and an epic marble run!

We are building a math community by learning to talk about our ideas, listen to others, work together, and ask questions. Today, students worked in groups to make different shapes using a piece of yarn. Everyone had to be touching the yarn at all times. Awesome teamwork, 1A!

Today we made our marks for #DotDay, in honour of the 20th anniversary of The Dot! We wore dots, painted dots without making a dot, made bracelets with 20 beads, chased bubbles, sang the Dot Day song and made purple dots for a special collaborative art project. Stayed tuned!

We are learning how to play some of our tarmac games. This one is called Switch and it’s a favourite!
