What a day with #CoastalOceanExplorers: Sharks expedition with our partner scientists from FIU College of Arts, Sciences & Education and South Florida teachers from the @ufearthsystems Environmental Education Fellowship. This professional development program was made possible by The Batchelor Foundation.
Our #SEFS305 Fellows were up bright and early for bird watching at beautiful Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park this morning! Thank you to @TropicalAudubon for helping us learn about birds in the #Miami area and beyond! 🐦 #ScientistsinFLSchools #SciEd
As part of the #SEFS305 Fellowship, teachers were shown hands-on activities they can take back to their classrooms! Yesterday, NOAA Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Lab demonstrated a water density experiment, and today, Frost Science led a fishing sustainability activity. #ScientistsinFLSchools M-DCPS STEAM

Congrats to my graduate student, Stephanie Killingsworth, on her first paper, published today in Paleobiology (The Paleontological Society). This analysis predicts which fossil horses occurred in FL. Studies like this show fossil horses have a long history on our continent. doi.org/10.1017/pab.20…
Thrilled to have my first first-author publication in The Paleontological Society Paleobiology entitled Species occurrences of Mio-Pliocene horses (Equidae) from Florida: sampling, ecology or both? doi.org/10.1017/pab.20…
Thank you to Dr. Istvan Kereszy and #scientistineveryfloridaschool #SEFS for presenting to our 5th graders Del Prado Elementary about lightning⚡️, energy, and electricity! 🌩️ #@mrsK_IBSCI PBCSD Science Tom Salinsky
