The best part of my day (which was pretty great, anyway) was watching our 5th grade scientists make and note observations of our sprouting (or not so sprouting) radish seeds. What does a plant need to grow and thrive? We’re finding out if our claims are correct! #Science rules!

During a great restorative circle today, one of my students was taking notes as we reviewed important traits of our classroom culture. As we were wrapping up our discussion, he came up with this acronym. Kids are capable of amazing things. #nkcschools

While studying the atmosphere/air pressure, my class was amazed to find that we could use air to lift a very heavy table. Maybe the most fun experiment I have ever done. Based on the cheering and screams, I think the kids would agree! #makeschoolfun #science #sciencerules

You might be a #teacher if...you are middle-aged, yet wake up with The Bazillions stuck in your head. 🎶 Personification 🎶

It’s been a rough stretch for #teachers. Some are giving up. I get it. I may be naive, but I’m doubling down. I didn’t sign up for the summers off. I’m ready to work hard and am full of hope, when all hope could be lost. Without hope, what’s the point of living? I’m very alive.

Today our #math journals stayed closed while we worked in teams using measuring cups to solve fraction division problems. It got a little messy, but it sure was fun.

I rarely tweet but had to give a shout out to my principal for the next six weeks, Dr. Bradley. He isn’t on Twitter and hates attention, but he inspired today with an emotional plea for our students. Fox Hill Elementary is going to miss you so much. Thank you. Gateway6NKC is very lucky.

Love our new recycling bin! I knew it would have a lid, but this exceeded my expectations. I live next to a creek that is filled with blown recycling, so this is much needed. Proud of KC and thanks Mayor Q. (Also love the Kansas City Royals. Too bad I can’t see a game…) #kcmo

My son graduated from Staley High School and my daughter will be a freshman there next year. I teach in the Staley feeder pattern and love that school. But I graduated from Oak Park High School way back in ‘91, and I couldn’t be happier about their victory tonight! Keep it rolling OP!

My fifth grade students were furious when I said no iPads during indoor recess. 20 minutes later this happened. Also saw kids playing board games, drawing, laughing, and interacting with more than their usual crowd. Less screens, more imagination!
