New - this is simply remarkable. New data shows 42% of private school kids now get extra time with exams (compared with 26% in state schools). ⁦Bridget Phillipson⁩ wants to know why. Great story by Kieran Smith and Amy Borrett on.ft.com/3YDsrXY

The STRB must not be constrained by the current inadequate school funding levels. The recruitment and retention problems are at critical levels, driven by pay that is too low and workload that is too high. neu.org.uk/advice/your-ri…

I cannot say this enough. Schools cannot hold up the whole world. Housing, jobs, dentistry, doctors: we need other policy areas to work if there’s any chance at improving children’s lives.

As a parent, I want a healthy, happy workforce teaching my child. Not one that is constantly stressed, overworked and anxious because they’re aware that all their hard work could be rubbished by a visitor who has <2 days to interpret and apply some very vague statements and

In one graph from ⁦The Guardian⁩ is the relative drop in earnings of public sector workers. Not surprising that ⁦The BMA⁩ members say the DDRB ‘award’ is inadequate. Claps don’t pay the bills, childcare for 24/7 on-calls, housing & massive student loan costs - cash does.

We're always trying to run education on the cheap and it's absolutely draining. Decisions are made for budgetary reasons rather than educational reasons. No society has ever got worse by investing too much in its children and schools.
