In the style of Jean-Michel Basquiat Absolutely love the outcome from todays Art lesson. The children have loved studying this artist and creating pieces of work inspired by him. Oil pastel techniques explored today 🖼️ Can not wait to see the final outcome ❤️

+ & - decimals with a context The ch ❤️ working out the cost of the food orders created by other adults One child: This lesson is really making my brain hurt. Multiplying & dividing is easy because it repeats eg 3,6,9 where as this is 5+9+7 etc Not intended but ❤️ the honesty

The Eastfield Cafe was open again this week. This time the children had to workout orders for 10,100,1000 times the cost or they had to split the bill between 10,100,1000. They even experienced rounding to 2DP. Real life problems smashing it again 🙌🏻

This is one of my favourite moments with Numicon! Showing intervals and reminders on a number line ❤️🙌🏻 Also, apologies for the song choice but who doesn’t love a-bit of star girl 🎶 #Throwback

This is often an area of maths that children can find confusing. So we try and tackle that by using: • Numicon Tiles • 2 coloured pens This is one way that we scaffold learning!

One of my favourite lessons to teach with Numicon. Once children have a secure place value understanding, this adaptive teaching scaffold can transfer across many missing number problems. Give it a try! #NumiconEssentials

I really enjoyed making this ‘How we use Numicon” booklet with a colleague. It shows lots of ways of how to manipulate tiles in KS2. (Message if you want it) However, if you want CPD and support with Maths and Oracy, sign upto Numicon Essentials. 🌟 ow.ly/Mt4S50RMWW2

When you see the power of the manipulative 💡 Such a clear and easy way to show reminders in Year 3 👏 all can achieve with structure like this. Louise Pennington FCCT (She/Her) with the inspiration (again) Many examples like this on this link 👇 ow.ly/Mt4S50RMWW2

Numicon and Y6… together? We spent time learning through play, where ch had to add + and - numbers with a partner A great💡 taken from the Numicon Essentials lessons! Takeaway: It is important for resources to be familiar with ch as many wanted to make shapes using the tiles

Factor sandwich station in Y6 🥪 This is a great way for children to find and discuss: factors, factor pairs and prime numbers. We took the conversation on further in the lesson by looking at common factors with given numbers. Give it a try 😊

Back to maths homework this week in EYFS, we enjoyed working out doubles using the Numicon resources! The number rod tracks were a particular favourite, especially with doubles over 5.

Eastfield Cafe High engagement in maths today as ch had to work out how much a bill was, then give change or find out how short the customer was. Adding and subtracting decimals with a context ✅ I would highly recommend doing this! Who said imaginary play stopped in KS1 😂

Feeling inspired to try and get some maths stories into KS1 and KS2 after listening to our FS lead, lead her Maths Hub session on the pedagogy of mathematical graphics and the progression of composition in Early Years! Thankyou, Laura. You are awesome! 🧮 🧠 💭

Counting down the days to the SATs and what better way than to combine some past paper questions, exercise and Pokémon! The kids were absolutely loving running around the school site in pairs and answering questions. Highly recommend.
