Our children in P1/2 and P2/3 have been enjoying creating their own monsters as part of our innovation for our journey story. We thought carefully about how we wanted our monsters to look using different adjectives to describe them.#InspiredbyTheGruffalo Mr Jamie Evans Talk for Writing
Lovely morning with the Reception classes at Sandgate Primary: Talk for Writing Training Centre. Three weeks in and the children’s ability to map and tell original stories is already coming along nicely. A little bit of labelling with initial sounds helped with retelling. Great day back with St Gregory’s in Broadstairs for day 3 of their Talk for Writing in the EYs & KS1 project. Toolkits are up, story invention is coming along nicely, models are in place and transcription is beginning to build. Pie Corbett Kent Catholic Schools' Partnership
Great start to the day with Langley Green Primary School in Crawley working on all things fiction. We've got Elf Road securely in our heads and a great bank of ideas from poetry and short burst writing ready to create our own portal stories. Pie Corbett Talk for Writing
Fantastic 1st day with St George’s on Sheppey to launch their Talk for Writing Fiction Project. We had heroic dragons in the EYs, villainous characters in Y2 and how to use the weather to create suspense in Y4. A little odd to return to a school I attended once. Pie Corbett
Some cracking writing starting to come together there. And as for the children’s Gruffalo illustrations! The faces made me laugh out loud. Gorgeous. Thanks for sharing St Bartholomew's PS
Lovely to be back with the Polegate School team this morning, welcoming Stonecross Primary School to a day of Talk for Writing tasters and short burst writing. Pie Corbett
Independent young writers. Here's 60 children in the Reception classes at Sandgate Primary: Talk for Writing Training Centre totally engrossed in mapping out their innovations, and then telling them to a friend. Talk for Writing Pie Corbett
Great day yesterday at Knowetop Primary in Motherwell for An Intro to Talk for Writing. "In the Hall of Impossibility, I saw... A cold, cracked cauldron bubbling brightly, A silent throne sitting imperiously, Weary, rusting suits of armour watching from the gloom." Pie Corbett
The Year 6 children at Sandgate Primary: Talk for Writing Training Centre are playing with the use of colour as a way to mark transition in their portal stories, will a little extra help from Gary Paulsen. "Red is death, and endless raging fire."
Super TfW Development Day with all of the Centres, Showcase Schools and consultants in Birmingham today. ✍️ Thanks Pie Corbett and Jamie Thomas 👏
Fab day with the Talk for Writing family. Always so much to reflect upon as we continue to grow. Also great to have the annual data drop: TfW training centres continue to significantly outperform national averages in all subjects, despite most serving very challenging communities.
