Katabasis came in today and I had to put it next to Babel (which is permanently seated on my work desk book pile) and look how beautiful they look together. Gold and silver baby!

Congrats to R.F. Kuang on her 6th book out today! I devoured Katabasis (all 540 pages) in 24 hrs. I didn't know I could still read like that. Brilliant, beautiful & haunting! So much to say about the book, stay tuned for the full review! (Archimedes the cat stole the show ofc)

Reading 70 books in a month is a dream, even hitting that many this year would be amazing for me. As always, there's so many books and so little time! Here's my August wrap up, one book more than the previous months, so small wins I guess ~

Literally gasped when Justice Shailender Kaur pronounced "all appeals dismissed". The persons have been in jail for five years! Their bail pleas have gone through multiple benches, heard, re-heard, kept pending, and now, ultimately, dismissed in cold. TRAVESTY. OF. JUSTICE.

Latest for Frontline on the recent banning of Sci-Hub and Libgen in India by the Delhi High Court. Spoke to students and researchers on the exploitative industry of academic publishing and the need to ensure open access to academic and scholarly works.

Remembering Gauri Lankesh, a stalwart journalist who remained committed to protecting democracy. Her murder reminds us that media and democracy have only worsened since then, with Hindutva politics now the very base of this country’s functioning. Educate, organise, agitate & act!
