Deeply saddened to hear y’day former BBC North West presenter Beccy Barr had died.I’d retired when she joined but worked with her in another area.After cancer diagnosis we had long lunch, she spoke openly & fearlessly of her fate, & was just amazing. Strong talented lovely person 🥲

My heart goes out to the parents of the children attacked in Southport and particularly the bereaved parents. Whilst their pain will lessen over time, their loss is for ever, tho their family support will pull them through. We send them our love

So sorry to hear this Ben. He was the loveliest, friendliest and wisest of colleagues when he, Bob Greaves and I were the first presenters of Granada Reports when it launched in 1973. He had a wonderful dry sense of humour too. Such sad news and my thoughts are with u & family
