John Singleton earned an Oscar nomination for Best Director at just 24 for Boyz n the Hood. In the 98 years the Academy’s existed, Singleton still holds the record as the category’s youngest nominee. We lost John in 2019 at just 51. He would’ve turned 58 today. A true pioneer. 🎂
