If I was going to vote “yes” on a budget that included explicit language about cuts to TTC services, I likely wouldn’t then hop on Twitter 2 weeks later and complain about those cuts, but that’s just me I guess.

By far the best #podcast in #transit #mobility. If you are interested in true learning, you really need to follow #ArrestedMobility

Hey Jordan Heath-Rawlings the intro to The Big Story Podcast today was SO good. Had me completely hooked from the jump. Well paced, well produced. Kudos to the whole team. It’s noticed and appreciated how good the show is from top to bottom.

What a great study in contrasts - see both tweets. This is a school zone before/after #SchoolStreet program. Which one do you want for your kids? #WalkToSchool #BikeToSchool #NorthVan

I cannot emphasize this enough - I just can’t. However bad anyone thinks removing cars from a downtown will be - however hyperbolically, catastrophically bad they predict it WILL be - That’s how GOOD it will be when you actually do it.

Imagine looking at this image and thinking to yourself “it’s clearly the barricades that are at fault here!” Never mind the fact that slow streets are *proven* to have much lower rates of all collisions, with an especially high drop in serious injury collisions.

We’ve chosen to foist the responsibility for children’s safety onto parents at the same time as we’ve made existing as a child in public spaces increasingly deadly through larger, faster vehicles that are allowed to go everywhere. It’s the worst trade off we’ve ever made imo.

Look how few cars there are driving on this road We should definitely draw broad conclusions about how much people like cars from this one photo of a partially completed road network

What “lesson” does something like this teach a child? That the power structures in place don’t care about their feelings. That the state will go to excessive lengths to be cruel. That working hard to find a reasonable alternative doesn’t matter.

Telling people to ride their bike 1-3 streets over is never considered an inconvenience. Asking people to park a block away from their destination is an unbelievable attack on innocent motorists

In Paris, where bike lanes are being developed at an unmatched pace and streets are being rapidly pedestrianized, emergency response times have DROPPED by 30%. The number one source of delay for emergency services is cars blocking their path. Never forget that.
