Chatting to lots of heads and senior leaders recently. Especially ones who have had OFSTED. I have come to the opinion; Unless you work in a school, you've no idea how difficult things are.

The reality is progress isn’t linear. School improvement takes time. Building school culture is a journey. Sweat the small stuff. Be consistent. Review and reflect along the way.

Hats off to all headteachers. It is a challenging job at the moment: increasing attendance, managing behaviour, dealing with angry parents in a tough society, aiming for high performance, and coping with recruitment struggles. Truly remarkable.
