Did not like today’s Reading paper. Very wordy again, had lots of confident readers not able to finish. There’s never been a harder first text and set of questions in my opinion. Felt a lot like last year again. #SATs2024

Year 6 received a lovely crate of 50 brand new books today. Thank you to Madeleine Lindley Ltd and United Learning. Fostering a love of reading is far more important than any test!

Reasoning Paper 3 was a dream in comparison to yesterday’s. Accessible and fair. A nice way to end a tough set of papers. #anglemeasurer #SATs2024

Today all the Year 6 staff received a gift-wrapped cake from a student. Today was also the day we were casting for the end of year production. I’m sure the two things are just coincidence…

Finished When Stars are Scattered with my class today. It’s my new favourite class read. You could hear a pin drop when I was reading, other than for the gasps and cheers towards the end! Beautiful book, highly recommend.

This week has been a big one. Next academic year I will be an Assistant Principal at my current school with a curriculum focus. Still amazed by it all.

Very nice day today. Next year’s Year 6s were very pleased to know I’m their new teacher and the colleague who proofread my reports found me to say how much my knowledge of the children shined through. Positivity spreads.

Every year I sit and watch from home, wondering how a primary school teacher would be able to get the time off to go to Glastonbury.

I didn’t tell my class it was my birthday over the weekend. Regardless, one child came in early today to hand me this they’d created. Day made.

For the first time ever I am using Alma from Literacy Shed as a writing stimulus. Why did no-one tell me how creepy and unsettling it is?!

Does anyone’s primary school buy into an AI package? Chat GPT / TeachMate AI etc. How beneficial to staff find it?

I’ve got a day off coming up end of the week. I’ve managed to get through my career without taking one before. Do you tell my class I won’t be in the day before or not?
