You’d think it would be best to make a property less visible from the street, to keep it hidden from prying eyes behind overgrown bushes, trees, high fences or walls. This makes it easier for a burglar to go unnoticed, provide somewhere to hide while carrying out a burglary.

It’s a good idea to scan the area around ATMs before you use them. Be aware of anyone standing close by and always check the machine to see if it’s been tampered with before you use it.

Get your phone’s IMEI number by typing *#06# on your phone keypad. Keep a note of it somewhere other than on your phone. The IMEI can help track the phone down if it’s lost or stolen.

Reduce the risk of being affected by the growing trend of theft of items left unattended by delivery drivers.
